Sunrises
This morning was a beautiful morning here in Ndola! The sun was shining, the ground was wet from the previous night’s rain and I was alone with my beautiful baby girl! It is amazing to me how sometimes in life things just seem to feel right! Amidst car troubles and water pump problems, and living in new and very different places, I have never really felt things were as exactly as they should be. Please don’t misunderstand me… we have had our FAIR share of frustrations in the week we have been here. Emily and I haven’t always seen eye to eye and our children have wanted to go “home” at times too.
Waking up this morning with Abigail at 5:00am was a reminder to me that behind every frustration there is potential for immense beauty. Being a father has allowed me to see the immense levels of hypocrisy that reside in my daily language and behavior. I tell Benjamin all the time, and I do mean all the time, that he has a choice to have fun or not. That choice can be made irregardless of circumstance and yet far too often I get caught up and dragged down by my feelings and surroundings. This morning, despite the fact I was up so early with a slightly fussy daughter, I was able to see this sunrise. This particular sunrise came at just the right moment to remind me of the beauty behind our daily frustrations. I want to make a choice today to have fun and trust God to turn difficult circumstances into beautiful opportunities!
