Week 11 School Report

Dear Karen,

All school programs are going on very well despite the water problem.

On we’ll start assessing the students in  all the learning areas; that is in mathematics, social and development studies, creative and technology studies, integrated science, Zambian language(icibemba) and literacy in both English and icibemba.

Grade one
The average attendance was at 95%. no illness was recorded.

Grade  two
The average attendance was at 85% and no illness was recorded.

Grade three
The average attendance was at 91%. 3 illnesses.

Grade four
84% is the average attendance, no illness was recorded.

Grade five
The average attendance is 93%.

Grade six
94% was the average attendance. 3 illnesses.

Grade seven
The average attendance was at 91% and no illness was recorded.

There is a water crisis at school. The bore hole pump developed a fault last Wednesday, since then there has been no water at the school. The school has been drawing water from wells in the village.

I am afraid we have an outbreak of diarrhea diseases. The sad part is that even the hand pump is not functional as well. The general workers are the ones helping to fern water in drums from the village.

The education meeting was attended by me, Lyness (grade 3 teacher), ROYDAH (Omni parent community school committee chairperson) and Ireen a committee member.

The meeting was on putting in place measures which will reduce girl child dropout from school. Also how the parent committee can work hand in hand with the school to improve the school programs. Parents were mandated to help with follow ups to those students with poor attendance and get actively involved in all school projects. Parent were also tasked to come up with a school action  which they have to present to the district education office by Friday.
