Wednesday: Kasongo

July 23, 2014 / OMNI / 2014 Mission, OMNI News

Frida and the community leaders of Kasongo were a great help at today’s clinic.

The morning was very breezy, but the wind calmed down by the time we started.

Unlike most towns we serve, Kasongo is full of goats, chickens, and a herd of oxen. The largest bull was particularly grumpy. During the middle of the clinic, we heard the ground rumble as the ox nearly charged into the van. At the last second, he turned away to cross the road.

The team is doing well, and every day gets more and more experiences. Each team member already has a dozen stories to tell, and we’ve just begun.

The father of one of our interpreters came to see the doctor today.

He was very ill and could barely walk from dehydration. He spent most of the morning being rehydrated and resting near the wound care area of the clinic. He was able to walk on his own by mid afternoon, and left with some Gatorade and food.

It was another busy, steady day. We were able to see over 400 patients, and even the vehicles were busy transporting multiple patients to the hospital.
