School Report April 2021

April 27, 2021 / OMNI / School Reports

Dear Karen,

The school which opened on Monday 1st February 2021, closed on Friday, 23rd April 2021. The students were in school for 12 weeks. They have gone on recess for two weeks and will reopen on Monday, May 10th 2021. Term two will run for 14 weeks so as to compensate the one week lost in term one.

The examination classes will continue learning for a week before they break for another week. This is to make sure that they catch up with syllabus before their end of year national examination scheduled for November 2021.

The student’s performance in the just ended end of term one assessments was very good. There are some changes in the school curriculum pertaining to the national assessments. The Ministry of Education has introduced school based assessments at primary level, starting from grade 5 up to 7. The school based assessments will contribute 30% to the national examination at grade 7 level, and the final examination will be marked out of 70%, making it 100%.

The introduction of school-based assessment which contributes 30% to the final national examination has seen an improvement in students performance.

The school did not record any Covid-19 cases because there was total adherence to the guidelines. Every day, before classes, teachers were giving short talks about Covid-19, and I would address all the students every fortnight.

The term was injury free, and we recorded a few cases of illnesses. The overall attendance in general was very good.

The teacher’s performance was very good and their health was very good also.

Thanks once more for the sweaters and shoes.

Continued blessings,
Teddy
