Nyenyenzi: Last Clinic
Hi everyone,
On Wednesday we competed our final clinic at Nyenyenzi a rural village of farming with oxen carts passing through. Before I got to the clinic I traveled with our guards to Baluba to give the third rabies vaccination to my little patient who was bitten at the first clinic by a stray dog. The steps of a bar where his mother worked served as my clinic site.
The pathology was difficult including malaria of a young girl who walked several miles to our clinic at the end of the long day. She was so ill that we drove her home deep into the village so that she could make it their safely. Her mother was working in the fields and gifted us with a large bag of greens as her thank you.
There were multiple people at the end of the day diagnosed with STDs requiring injections. Dr Henry’s tent served as our exam room and injection room and our head lamps were a necessity as we closed in the dark.
Our team was tired but served each person as though they were our first.
Last night we had our teaching staff to our lodge for dinner. We had a great evening in fellowship including African music.
Today we finish our work with follow up patients one dental case and a meeting with Ndola Rotary.
Tomorrow we leave Africa sadly to say as it has been a wonderful mission.
