Kafubu

July 28, 2015 / OMNI / 2015 Mission

Kafubu is a village about an hour out from Ndola known for its farming. Many of the elderly move to Kafubu from other areas. The pathology at this Clinic was complex with massive wounds including bone involvement coupled by life threatening diseases. Our team is now seasoned and prepared to deal with this in stride.

I had the honor of triaging for the district judge and his family. An interesting situation was a 9-year old girl who had bilateral club foot correction in Lusaka 9 months ago and came to us for follow up. I thought of my own son adopted from Africa who was born with the same and of Anderson who lived with us for 9 months during his surgery in the US. God had prepared me well for this child.

Kathy chose to give her birthday money to a widow caring for her child and her grandson. We purchased eggs cooking oil and meal to support them.

Susie is running lab and was busy all day. She is a natural just like the rest of the team.

OMNI made the national paper today with an beautiful articles and a picture of Dr Henry and Susie attending a patient in Mackenzie.

We closed our day singing around the table with African drums played by Derrick, guitar by Cindy and great fellowship.

I refer to this team as a “dream team” as they live up to this every day.
