Headteacher’s Seminar

Dear Karen,

The seminar was about how headteachers can execute their duties effectively.

We first looked at how one can become an effective school manager;

One has to be knowledgeable, have skills, be creative and committed to his his/her work. A manager was defined as one who has official power and authority to demand performance from all subordinates. A manager must be task oriented and aim at accomplishing on his/her functions. A good manager is one who plans what he/she must do daily.

We also learned about the attributes: visionary,demonstrates initiatives, be professional by discussing issues with the concerned people, Decisive, analytic ability, open to new ideas and change, be consistent and above all show integrity.

Human relations in management and good record keeping in schools was also discussed.

Lastly, we also looked at how we can improve the reading culture in our schools.

One way is by making libraries in schools and encourage the students to read more and be well informed.
