Zambia is currently facing a cholera epidemic. There are no reports of cholera at the OMNI School, with our students, or at the town of George. However, the nearby town of Ndola has a few cases reported.<\/p>\n
The cholera cases have so far surged to 2,451 as of 7 January, 2018 with 58 deaths recorded since the outbreak in October last year.<\/p>\n
The government has ordered that all schools stay closed until January 30th to ascertain whether it is safe for the schools to open or not.<\/p>\n
The closure of schools country-wide is in line with SI 79, and, during the closure, a thorough check on the water and sanitation conditions will be conducted in all schools.<\/p>\n
